Ashurst strengthens Asia corporate practice with new partner hire

14 January 2010

Ashurst today announces the appointment of Keith McGuire as a corporate partner in the firm's Singapore office. Keith has a broad range of corporate expertise and a strong track record of advising on M&A, joint ventures, corporate finance and investment fund matters throughout Asia, including in India. Keith's experience covers a number of industry sectors, including financial institutions, energy and infrastructure.

Keith joins Ashurst from Allen & Overy, where he was head of the firm's corporate department in Singapore from May 1998 to December 2005. Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Keith worked as Asia-Pacific Counsel for TI Group plc.

Commenting on the appointment, Ashurst's head of Asia, Geoffrey Green, said:

"Keith's appointment and the recent hire of Peter Kwon in Hong Kong show that we are committed to growing our presence in Asia by making strategic investments in response both to client demand and market opportunities. There is a strong synergy between Keith's expertise, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and financial services sectors, and the focus of our practice in the region. I am very pleased to welcome him to the firm."

Matthew Bubb, managing partner of Ashurst Singapore, added:

"Keith is a highly regarded corporate practitioner with a strong reputation in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific market. Following Susan Roy's move to Singapore in 2009, we have been building a strong corporate offering in Singapore and Keith's experience acting for Asian and multi-national corporates and financial institutions on cross-border transactions in Asia make him a valuable addition to the team."
