Ashurst's relationship with India dates back to November 1994
(since the first phase of deregulation and liberalisation in
India). As a result, our experience in the Asian subcontinent has
provided us with an impressive track record and knowledge of doing
business in India for Indian and international clients.
Under current Indian Regulations, foreign law firms cannot practise
law in India. We are committed to participating in India without
breaching regulatory laws.
Since 1 April 2011, we have had a best friend referral arrangement
with Indian Law Partners (ILP). ILP consists of two partners
(Gopika Pant and Piyoosh Gupta) and nine other lawyers.
Together, Ashurst and ILP provide seamless service to clients both
inside and outside India.
Our relationship with ILP is not exclusive; we continue to work
with other Indian law firms.
The dedicated group of partners and associates in our India
